June 26th 2008 Meeting Bulletin

Join us for the June 26th, 2008 meeting of the Arizona SharePoint Professionals Group (AZSPG)

Our guest speakers for the evening will be Thomas Baer from Statera and William Xi from Microsoft

v  Thomas is a Senior Consultant for Statera, a consulting firm located here in Arizona. He has been in programming since 1984 when he was writing 68000 assembly code. Currently, he specializes in all things related to SharePoint. When not trying to figure out which SP objects he needs to dispose of in his code, he enjoys cooling off by playing ice hockey and swimming.

Thomas will be demonstrating what the Business Data Catalog (BDC) is, why you would want to use it, and how to create applications that leverage the BDC. He will demonstrate what functionality the out-of-the-box BDC Web Parts provide and show how they can be leveraged to quickly create applications inside SharePoint without writing a line of code!

v  William joined Microsoft in 2000, and has worked in a wide variety of industries and customers on different many technologies. Prior to Microsoft, William worked on product development at Honeywell and Emerson Electric.

William will be showcasing how to use Windows Powershell to manage and administer a SharePoint environment.  There will be plenty of takeaway examples and demos from this session.

Important Information

  • UAT Theater Room
    • All AZSPG meetings will be held in the UAT theater.  Please enter UAT through the East rear entrance.  This entrance will be behind the main building, not the Baseline Rd entrance.  The Theater will be immeiately to your left when you enter.
  • Parking
    • Due to overwhelming support for AZSPG, we will be utilizing the auxiliary parking lot behind Fry's Electronics.  This lot is leased and secured by UAT.  The lot will be on the north side of Baseline Rd.  There is a crosswalk adjacent to the lot that will take you directly to UAT on the south side of Baseline Rd. UAT has asked that we take advantage of this lot to allow students and faculty enough spaces in the main parking areas.  Thank you for your support.
